Purpose of Role

Our practical conservation volunteers are an essential part of the team, working on nature reserves across the county. Volunteers help with practical conservation management to maintain the sites special features for now and for the future.

Type of work

Wilden Marsh lies within the Trust's Living Landscapes River Stour area as part of a string of wildlife sites along the Stour and nearby canals.  It is an important wetland with many marshland plants now uncommon elsewhere in Worcestershire including marsh cinquefoil, marsh arrow-grass, marsh pennywort, lesser water parsnip and southern marsh orchid. Wetland restoration is the focus here, with tasks aimed at clearing any encroaching scrub and bramble from the meadows and river banks.

Basic information

• Interest and enthusiasm for nature and wildlife conservation
• Willingness to work outside in all weathers
• Ability to work alone and as part of a team
• Basic use of hand tools; training will be given
• Willingness to be involved in a number of tasks as directed
• Suitable for everyone with a basic level of fitness

Time/days

Work parties take place on last Sunday and 2nd Tuesday of the month.
