This small reserve, bought by the Bishop family in 1996 to protect it, provides a small haven of wetland habitat. It was once part of an extensive wetland and we hope it may eventually be possible to recreate wetlands in the land around it. The reserve is a must for committed naturalists as the high water table allows its peaty soils to support a host of wetland flora. Visit at the right time and you’ll see southern marsh orchid and greater tussock sedge, an uncommon plant in the midlands.
