Volunteering

Local Groups

Our local groups bring together people with an interest in celebrating and enjoying our county’s wildlife.

Amazing groups of volunteers run our six active groups across Worcestershire, organising organise walks, talks and fundraising events. Some of them also get involved with practical conservation work parties and survey work.

You’ll be made very welcome at their regular events, whether you attend an interesting talk or go for a stroll with them. You may even like to get involved with helping to organise future events!

Find out more about our local groups below, discover their activities and events in your local area on our what's on pages or take a look at volunteering opportunities near you.

We're hoping to recruit new committees for our Worcester and Droitwich groups whereas some of our other groups are looking for one or two extra pairs of hands to help on their committees; please see below for information in your local area.

Our what's on pages have lots of information about what's happening across the county.

Bromsgrove & NE Worcestershire

We have a new committee organising a series of events in the Bromsgrove and northeast Worcestershire area. If you'd like to join them please get in touch. You don't need committee experience or knowledge of wildlife, just enthusiasm. If you have a few hours a month (if that) to spare and are interested in finding out more, please get in touch with Elise on 01905 754919.

Meetings and Events

Throughout autumn and winter the group meets monthly to discover more about our incredible natural world both here in Worcestershire and further afield. Our indoor meetings normally consist of an illustrated talk on a wildlife or landscape topic.

  • Where: Amphlett Hall, Crown Close off Market Street, Bromsgrove , B61 8DW (but please double check the what's on page as the group is outgrowing this lovely venue)
  • Time: 7.30pm. Second Monday of the month
  • Admission: £3.00 (cash, payable on the door)
  • Refreshments available
  • Non-members always welcome

You can see what the group are up to in their latest Bromsgrove and NE Worcestershire Local Group newsletter.

Droitwich

The committee of our Droitwich Local Group stood down at the end of 2022 following several years of running talks and walks in and around the Droitwich area. We're looking for new committee members to take this group forward - whether it's organising illustrated talks and/or guided walks or whether you fancy organising something completely different. Our local groups help to inspire and connect people in their area with wildlife and the natural world so you don't need to have experience or be an expert but you need to love nature.  If you have a few hours a month (if that) to spare and are interested in finding out more, please get in touch with Elise on 01905 754919.

Get involved

We’re always delighted to hear from anyone willing to help. Perhaps you could help with teas and coffees at meeting, help to organise our activities, take photos for our displays, make a cake, hold a coffee morning, provide a raffle prize or help in some other way? We’re always keen to hear new ideas.

Your local nature reserve

The Knapp and Papermill nature reserve at Alfrick Pound is perhaps the most special of the many reserves in our area with a diverse range of habitats along the picturesque Leigh Brook. For those keen on more active volunteering, weekday working parties are held through the winter months. No practical experience is required as guidance is given; visit our Knapp work party page for more information.

Recent sightings

We’d love to know if you’ve spotted anything exciting in our local area. For more information about recording sightings of wildlife visit the website of the Worcestershire Biological Records Centre or the Trust's Wildlife Sightings page to report wildlife that you've seen locally.
