It’s at the end of a small road in Warndon and you wouldn't even know it was there if you just drove past. But this is a lovely haven for wildlife that's being developed on land owned by Sanctuary Housing. In conjunction with the local community, Councillor Jill Desayrah and Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, this previously unloved pocket of land is having a makeover.

It's early days but raised beds, wildflowers and a bee bank have already been installed for wildlife and the next step is to make a stumpery or log pile for minibeasts. Maintaining community involvement is paramount and meetings are planned to talk about current work and new proposals.

There is a regular litter pick, which has been really successful in keeping the area free from rubbish and making the site both wildlife and people friendly. This has been supported by community volunteers, Jill Desaryah and the Trust. We are keen to keep up the momentum and are looking forward to liaising with communities and the nearby Cranham Primary School, who have already added their expertise to identifying current flowers on site and developing their own ideas for future works. With the help of grounds men from Sanctuary Housing, this is starting to turn into a little piece of wildlife heaven.
